We The People NYC Competition

Saturday, December 13, 2014- Students from the following five schools, Forest Hills High School, Midwood High School, Harry S. Truman, Queens Vocational and Technical High School, and James Madison High School, attended a competition in the Martin Luther King Campus for a Mock Congressional hearing.

 

This Competition is based off of “We the People” which is a Bill of Rights and Constitution program. Based on the six units in the text, lawyers, politicians, and professors serve as judges for students who prepared for the first 4 minute presentation and 6 minutes to respond to any follow up questions.

In first place was Forest Hills High School and in second place was James Madison High School, where they earned the top two spots and will be competing in Albany at the New York State Finals in February 2015.

December 12, 2014- Randy Kaminsky coaches students at Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, New York and imparts knowledge to students who attend the Moot Court program which runs from October to the end of November and the Mock Trial Program which runs from December to April, in order for them to gain a better understanding of the law and increase their social skills. Randy Kaminsky was recognized due to his “passions of teachings and international travel”.
